4 Days Gorillas, Golden Monkeys & Dian Fossey Safari : A 4 day gorilla, golden monkey, and Dian Fossey safari in Rwanda will provide you with yet another unforgettable safari experience. Day 1: Arrival and transfer to Volcanoes National Park.

Our company representative and the driver/guide will be waiting to welcome you when you arrive at the Kigali airport on the first day of your 4-Day Gorillas, Golden Monkeys, & Dian Fossey tour. You will then be driven through Rwanda’s terraced hills to Volcanoes National Park, where the critically endangered mountain gorillas are found. Dinner and overnight accommodations at Hotel Muhabura, Le Bambou Gorilla Lodge, and Sabyinyo Silver Lodge, three luxury accommodations (budget).

Day 2: Gorilla trekking experience.

You will be taken to the park headquarters in Kinigi after an early-morning breakfast to hear a briefing from the park ranger about the endangered mountain gorillas. The vehicle will leave you off at the starting location for the gorilla trekking with the ranger guides along with your trekking supplies, water, and a packed lunch. Searching for the gorillas might take anything from one to eight hours, depending on their movement.

You will only spend a maximum of an hour with them, but meeting them is extremely fulfilling as you take your time studying them and recording photos and films. Visit the neighborhood near the park after the event. Return to the lodge later in the day to relax. Same as above for dinner and sleep at the lodge.

Day 3: Golden Monkey Tracking.

After an early breakfast on the third day of your 4-day gorilla, golden monkey, and Dian Fossey tour, proceed to the park headquarters for a briefing from the park warden on the critically endangered golden monkeys. Then enter the jungle to look for the rare golden monkey after linking to the tracking starting point. This activity, which allows for a closer look at other primates in the park like red-tailed and Vervet monkeys, can last anywhere from one to five hours. Return to the base and meet your drive to connect to the lodge to rest after spending an hour seeing the unique golden monkeys while taking pictures and observing their behaviors.

Take a cultural meander to Iby’iwachu Cultural Village after lunch if you want to improve the lives of ex-poachers and the locals in and around Rwanda’s Volcanoes National Park. This Non-Profit umbrella organization does this by offering incentives for conservation, fostering the growth of local businesses, and funding projects that are focused on improving local livelihoods. You will be shown about this rewarding location as you take in the Kinyarwanda customs, including the Intore dance, customary ceremonies, and a led community stroll. Retire and head back to your lodge for some downtime, supper, and an overnight stay as described above. Le Bambou Lodge (Midrange), Muhabura Hotel, Sabyinyo Silverback Lodge (Luxury) (Budget).

Day 4: Dian Fossey Hike And Return To Kigali.

After an early breakfast on the fourth day of your trip to see gorillas, golden monkeys, and Dian Fossey, the driver will take you to the park headquarters, where you can meet with the tour leader (30 minutes’ drive). At the trailhead, it takes about ten minutes to make the connection to the Karisoke research camp, where Dian Fossey lived, died, and was laid to rest. Prior to her death, Dian, an American primatologist, spent her entire life protecting the mountain gorillas’ existence in Rwanda’s Virunga Mountains.

The one and a half-mile journey to Dian Fossey’s graveyard offers wonderful views of forest fogs, forest elephants, and many bird and primate species. When you get to the camp, you’ll see the house where she was killed by poachers and interred next to her favorite gorilla (digit), together with other mountain gorillas.

Later return to the base and meet your drive to have your lunch. Connect to Kigali city last, then have some time to explore the city’s craft shops and genocide memorial. Afterward, link to the airport to locate your next homeward flight.
