10 Days Rwanda & Congo Safari : This safari for 10 days in Rwanda and the Congo takes you on one of the wildest and most thrilling safari adventures as you go to exotic and breathtaking tropical locations in Rwanda and the Congo. Detailed Itinerary for 10 Days Rwanda & Congo Safari.

Day 1: Arrival in Kigali

 Arrival in Kigali: Depending on the time of your arrival, our guide will greet you at the Kigali International Airport or when you are picked up from your hotel and bring you to Kigali, where you will take a brief city tour and visit the genocide memorial site. Dinner and a night’s stay at the Kigali Serena Hotel/Step Town Motel.

Day 2: Transfer to Nyungwe National Park

Transfer to Nyungwe: On the second day of your 10-Day Rwanda Safari, you will transfer to Nyungwe Forest National Park following your morning meal. You will pass through beautiful and stunning hills along the way as well as the agricultural countryside. Visit the royal King’s Palace in Nyanza for a cultural explanation of Rwanda’s history. Carry on and go to Rwesero’s cultural museum. Continue on and arrive in Butare town where you will have lunch. Following lunch, you will see the Rwanda National Museum.

Continue and get at the Park late in the day. Upon arrival, you will go to the new Visitor’s Interpretive Centre to learn more about the park, including the number of primate species that can be found there, the different bird species that can be found there, and other tourist activities that take place there. In Gisakura Guest House/Nyungwe Top Hill View, there will be dinner and overnight.

Day 3: Chimpanzee Trekking and Canopy Walk

Chimpanzee Trekking: You will eat breakfast first thing in the morning, then head to the park’s main office in the Nyungwe forest for a briefing before beginning your chimpanzee tracking expedition. Before to this adventure, it is advised to prepare a packed lunch and lots of water because it can occasionally last longer than 6 hours. You can find a variety of creatures and birds in the forest, including colobus monkeys, which can number up to 400 in a group, the Rwenzori Turaco, and black and white casqued hornbills. After lunch, head back to your lodge to unwind.

Drive to the park for an afternoon stroll along the renowned Canopy Walkway—a swing bridge that is 50 meters in length and strung from big trees—after your lunch break. After the trip back to your accommodation, you will be able to enjoy the magnificent rainforest from a bird’s eye perspective and spot wildlife moving about below you. Return for supper and spend the night at the same hotel.

Day 4: Transfer to Akagera & Evening Game Drive

Transfer to Akagera: Begin your morning at your hotel with a delicious breakfast. After that, check out of your hotel and make the approximately 5- to 6-hour trip to Akagera National Park. Check into your lodging and eat lunch when you get to the park.

Later in the evening, you will go on a game drive where you will see a variety of park wildlife, including elephants, duikers, impalas, waterbucks, lions, leopards, zebras, rhinos, giraffes, and buffalos, among others. After dinner, head back to your lodging for the night at Rusizi Tented Camp or Akagera Game Lodge.

Day 5: Morning Game Drive & Sunset Boat Cruise.

Early Game Drive: After breakfast at your lodge, head to the park for an early game drive. You will have the chance to see additional animals that you might not have seen on your first game drive. Once you’ve finished your morning game drive, head to your lodge for lunch and some downtime.

Once you’ve had enough rest, you’ll head out for a boat ride on Lake Ihema in the late afternoon. You can see a variety of animals, including hippos, elephants, and crocodiles, as well as birds, such the Northern Brown-Throated Weaver, Papyrus Gonolek, White-Winged Swamp Warbler, Carruthers’ Cisticola, White-collared Oliveback, and Grey-crowned Cranes, among others, during the boat tour. Return to your lodge for dinner and a repeat of the prior night’s stay.

Day 6: Transfer to Volcanoes & Iby’iwacu Village Tour.

After breakfast, you will travel to the Volcanoes National Park where you will begin a cultural visit of the renowned Iby’iwacu Village. The majority of the village’s residents are former poachers, and it is situated close outside the national park. The neighborhood intore dancing group will perform upbeat traditional songs and dances to welcome you. Dinner and overnight stay at La Bambou, Five Volcanoes, or Muhabura Lodge.

Day 7: Transfer to Gisenyi & cross over to Congo.

Move to Gisenyi and Cross into Congo: In the early morning, drive to Gisenyi town from whence you will pass into Goma in the Democratic Republic of the Congo. To obtain a gorilla and volcano permit that must be submitted at the start of each trek, check in with the tourism office that is conveniently located at the Grand Barrier border post. After that, you’ll be driven to the Kibumba tent camp, which is close to the trailhead for the Nyiragongo volcano. to Kibumba Tented Camp for supper and the night (Budget).

Day 8: Ascend to Nyiragongo

Hike Mount Nyiragongo: Be ready for an early breakfast since you are required to be at the headquarters by 8 am. Begin your hike after meeting your ranger guide and porter. You will be fed, and you’ll spend the night in a wooden shelter at the summit.

Please be aware that your Rwandan visa will expire once you enter the Congo, so you must apply right away for a new one. When you return, you will find it ready.

Day 9: Descend Mount Nyiragongo and Transfer to Gisenyi.

Mount Nyiragongo will be descended this morning, and by 11:00am, you will be on your way to Kibati. From here, you will meet your driver/guide and travel to Gisenyi, a wonderful tourist destination with stunning views of Lake Kivu. It’s a wonderful area to unwind while enjoying the sandy beaches and waterfront. After eating lunch, you can relax for the remainder of the afternoon or go to the host springs to learn more about how the Virunga Volcanic Mountains were formed. A local women’s weaving group and local artisans are other options. You can also visit nearby community projects and speak with residents there. Spend the night in Paradise Malahide in Gisenyi town.

Day 10: Transfer Back to Kigali.

Early in the morning, eat breakfast, and then set out on your return trip to Kigali City. You may be able to take a city tour of Kigali, see the Genocide Memorial Site, and the Caplaki Crafts Village before being dropped off at the airport in time for your journey home, depending on the time of your departure flight.
