5 days Congo Rwanda primates safari is an adventurous and amazing safari which takes you to 2 national parks that is Virunga national park where you will get to spend an hour with the mountain gorillas and then head to the volcanoes where you will get to spend an hour with the golden monkeys as well as other primates.

DETAILED ITINERARY

DAY 1; TRANSFER FROM KIGALI TO CONGO

After breakfast, the safari guide will pick you and brief you about the safari. After the briefing, you will embark on the journey from Rwanda to Congo via Grand barrier in Goma where you will be cleared by the virunga park officials and get a gorilla trekking permit. After you will proceed up to the lodge and check in for a relaxation, dinner and a night stay.

DAY 2; GORILLA TREKKING IN VIRUNGA NATIONAL PARK

After your morning breakfast, you will be transferred to the parks headquarters for a briefing. After the briefing, you will head into the forest in search of the mountain gorillas. The trek takes 30 minutes to 5 hours depending on their movements in search of food. Once the gorillas are located, you will spend an hour with them as you watch their behaviors and take photos and record every moment. After the trekking, you will head back to the parks headquarters and have lunch then head back to your lodge for dinner and a night stay.

DAY 3; RETURN TO RWANDA AND HEAD TO VOLCANOES NATIONAL PARK

In the morning after breakfast, you will check out of the lodge and head to Grande barrier border where you will exit Congo as well as get a new Rwanda visa and after proceed with the journey to kinigi with enroute lunch. On arrival in kiningi, you will proceed to the volcanoes national park and get the golden monkey trekking permit and head to the lodge for dinner and a night stay.

DAY 4; GOLDEN MONKEY TREKKING IN VOLCANOES NATIONAL PARK

Early in the morning, you will have breakfast and head to volcanoes park headquarters for a briefing. After the briefing, you will head into the forest in search of the golden monkey species and the trek takes 30 minutes to 4 hours or the whole day. Once the monkeys are located, you will spend an hour with the golden monkeys as you watch them play, feed, hunt among others as you take photos and record moments. After the trekking, you will return to the lodge for lunch.

Later in the evening, you can choose to enjoy an optional cultural visit to Ibyiwacu cultural village. And after the visit, you will return back to the lodge for dinner and night stay.

DAY 5; RETURN BACK TO KIGALI

After morning breakfast, you will check out of the lodge and embark on the journey back to Kigali. The drive from kiningi to Kigali takes 4 to 5 hours and on arrival, you will have lunch and a city tour within Kigali and later be dropped off at Kigali international airport for your flight back home.
