5 Days Volcanoes National Park & Nyungwe safari : Experience five days of Rwandan safari, including gorilla trekking in volcanoes national park and chimpanzee trekking in Nyungwe forest national park in the south of the country.

Day 1: Arrival and Drive to Volcanoes national park

You will be welcomed by our company representative at Kigali airport and travel through Rwanda’s terraced hills to Volcanoes national park, which is home to endangered mountain gorillas. Dinner and overnight stay at your lodge.

Day 2: Gorilla trekking experience in Volcanoes National Park and Cuture Visit

After breakfast, transfer to Kinigi for a briefing about the endangered mountain gorillas from the park warden.

Upon dropping you off at the starting point for your gorilla trek, the driver will collect your trekking gear, drinking water, and packed lunch. Depending on their movements, this activity could take 1-8 hours to complete. In spite of this, you will spend the best part of one hour with them as you study them and take pictures and videos of them.

Return to the base after you have spent time with the fascinating mountain gorillas and meet your driver for a ride to your lodge for lunch and refreshment.

Take a cultural walk after lunch to the Iby’iwachu Cultural Village, an umbrella organization that provides conservation incentives, supports community enterprise development, and provides livelihoods to reformed poachers and communities around Rwanda’s Volcanoes National Park.

It is a rewarding place where you will be guided around the place as you enjoy Kinyarwanda traditions including the Intore dance, traditional ceremonies, and a guided community walk. Retreat and return to your lodge for relaxation, dinner and overnight stay

Day 3: Visit Lake Kivu and Drive to Nyungwe national park

After breakfast at the lodge, drive an hour to Rubavu and enjoy the morning breeze at the shores of Lake Kivu. After spending just an hour there, return on the road to drive 4-5 hours to Nyungwe national park with lunch en route.

In East Africa, Nyungwe forest is the oldest and largest rain forest. Arrive in the park in the late afternoon and check into your lodge for dinner and overnight stay at the lodge

Day 4: Chimpanzee tracking in NNyungwe National Park and afternoon canopy walk

After breakfast, go for a briefing about endangered chimpanzees before entering Nyungwe forest to find the active and playful fellows. As the chimpanzees jump from one tree to another, chattering and laughing, they are much easier to spot. The tracking of chimpanzees usually takes three hours. On finding them, spend an hour while taking pictures and videos. As soon as lunch is over, you will return to your accommodation.

After lunch, you will take a walking trail to the Canopy Walk, a swing bridge suspended from large trees that measures 50 meters in length. You will observe the amazing rain forest from a bird’s eye perspective, spotting wildlife in the trees below. Return to the lodge before nightfall for dinner.

Day 5: Drive to Kigali city and airport drop off

Following breakfast, take a 4 hour drive back to Kigali city, stopping en route at Nyanza king’s palace, Rwanda national museum in Huye and Murambi genocide museum. As you arrive in Kigali, you will also have the opportunity to visit the Kigali genocide memorial and craft shops. Have lunch and connect to the airport for your return flight to your next destination.
