The Ugenda Gorilla family is one of the 10 habituated Mountain Gorillas in the Volcanoes national park, it derives its name, from a Kinyarwanda word,”Ugande” which means “Mobile” or “ever on the move” making it hard to track most of the times. However dont worry on your Rwanda Gorilla trekking Safari, we will allocate you with a ranger to help you track this family.

The Ugende Gorilla family normally resides on the slopes of Mount Bisoke or Visoke in the volcanoes national park, well, with it’s foraging life style, makes it difficult to trek, quiet challenging compared to other Mountain gorilla families in Volcanoes National Park. The Ugende Gorilla family comprises of 11 members with two silverbacks who are ever on the hunt for greener pastures  -Some think they love to eat a lot of vegetation and that, may be thats why they forage all day around.

There are 11 gorillas that belong to the Ugenda family, and among them are two Silverbacks. In the Kinyarwanda language spoken in the area, the word “mobile” is referred to as “Ugenda.” The fact that the gang is continually moving, making it difficult to follow and not very trustworthy, is where the moniker “Shadow People” comes from. Yet, if you go on a Rwanda Gorilla safari in Rwanda’s Volcanoes National Park, you may still have the opportunity to view them.

This gorilla group, like the others, is always on the move in search of food. The sole distinction is that it moves in such a rapid manner. Because this family is constantly on the move, the Rwanda Development Board has dispatched experienced trackers to locate them a day or two before tourists arrive. It is not difficult to locate this group any longer; however, it is important to consider what they did the day before.
