Bwenge Gorilla family was formed in 2007 by a dorminant silver back called Bwenge, the gorilla family name originates from a silver back that was named “Bwenge”, Bwenge broke away from his original family along with other female gorillas to start up his own family. This is one of the famous gorilla familis in the volcanoes ranges because, his part of his family members featured in the prominent movie “Gorillas in the Mist”.

In 2007, Bwenge, the current leader of the Bwenge Gorilla Group, separated from his family in Natal and joined forces with another group of female gorillas, which resulted in the formation of the Bwenge Gorilla Group.

The area between Mount Bisoke and Mount Karisimbi is where the gang travels around. Dian Fossey directed the blockbuster film “Gorillas in the Mist,” which was released in 1988 and featured appearances by a few members of this group. It is considered that this particular group is one of the most well-liked in all of Volcanoes National Park.

It would appear that there are 11 gorillas in the Bwenge Gorilla Family, with one of them being a silverback. Everyone in the family went through an extremely difficult time when six of the infants in the group passed away. The term “wisdom” can be translated as “bwenge” when spoken in the Kinyarwanda language.

The majority of gorilla families in Rwanda are distinct from one another, and each family has its unique characteristics that set it apart from the others. Keep in mind that the only place in Rwanda where it is legal to monitor gorillas in Volcanoes National Park, and that you must adhere to the laws.

You are going to need to do some walking and the family is a little bit difficult to navigate, so you should be in decent physical shape. You’ll get a pre-briefing that lasts for thirty minutes before you leave on your trek, and during that time, you’ll learn everything you need to know about hiking to see mountain gorillas.
