Volcanoes national park fees

Volcanoes national park fees are costs that are imposed by the rwanda development board on persons and motors that enter into the park. The volcanoes national park is located in the north part of rwanda in Ruhengeri district. The national park is a home to the mighty Virunga mountains of bisoke, sabyinyo, gahinga, muhabura and karisimbi which have a variety of wildlife and a number of mountain gorillas that are found in 3 countries at large which are Uganda, Rwanda and Democratic Republic of Congo. Throughout the year, there are a number of activities that are done within the park. So for one to participate or to be allowed in the volcanoes national park a certain fee has to be paid.

The charges are categorized depending on the tourist’s origin that is foreign nonresidents, foreign residents, East African citizens as well as east African community. The fares also vary depending on different park activities. Below are the volcanoes national park entry fees that are imposed on a number of different activities;

 GORILLA TREKKING

The rwanda gorilla trekking permit is charged $1,500 for all tourists who tend to do gorilla trekking activity within Volcanoes national park. This fee includes the park entrance charges plus the permit which enables the tourist to engage in the activity. Hence the gorilla permits get done so fast and are few, so tourists are advised to book in advance.

GOLDEN MONKEY TREKKING

For tourist doing the golden monkey tracking in the Volcanoes the charge is $100 for foreign nonresidents, $65 for foreign residents as well as the rwanda and east African community citizens, $80 for the EastAfrican community foreign residents.

MOUNT BISOKE HIKE

Hiking mount bisoke alone one requires to pay $75 for foreign non-residents, $60 for foreign residents, $55 for rwanda and EAC citizens and $65 for EAC foreign residents.

MOUNT MUHABURA HIKE

Hiking mount muhabura, tourists need to pay $100 for foreign non-residents, $75 for foreign residents, $60 for rwanda and EAC citizens whereas $80 for EAC foreign residents.

MOUNT GAHINGA HIKE

Hiking gahinga mount tourists are charged $75 for foreign nonresidents, $60 for foreign residents, $55 for rwanda and EAC citizens as well as the EAC foreign residents are charged $65.

MOUNT KARISIMBI HIKE

Tourists that wish to hike mount karisimbi are charged $400 for foreign nonresidents, $250 for foreign residents, $200 for rwanda and EAC citizens, and $300 for EAC foreign residents. Hiking mount karisimbi takes 2days whereas booking chefs and porters is separately done, therefore its only accommodation and hiking fees that are inclusive of the prices above.

MULTIPLE VOLCANOES HIKE

Hiking all the volcanoes altogether requires one to pay $1,500 for the entire activity whereas camping fees for foreign non-residents and residents is $30, $10 for rwanda and EAC citizens and EAC foreign residents $20.

MUSANZE CAVE

A visit to the Musanze cave tourists are charged $50 for foreign non-residents, $30 for foreign residents, 4000RWF for Rwanda and EAC citizens and the EAC foreign residents are charged $30.

DIAN FOSSEY GRAVE HIKE

Hikes to see the Dian Fossey grave costs $75 for foreign non-residents, $60 for foreign residents, $55 for Rwanda and EAC citizens as well as the EAC foreign residents are charged $65.

GUIDED NATURE WALK

For tourists to engage in nature walks foreign nonresidents are charged $55, foreign residents pay $40, $35 for Rwanda and EAC citizens and the EAC foreign residents pay $45.

BUHANGO ECO PARK WITH CAMPING

For the foreign residents $50, foreign non residents $60, $40 for Rwanda and EAC citizens and $55 foreign residents for visiting the park and also camp for a night.

CAMPING FEES

All camping activities within the national park costs $30 for foreign residents and foreign non-residents, Rwanda and EAC CITIZENS $10 and EAC foreign residents $20.

Therefore, the above are the charges that are imposed on the various activities within the volcanoes national park. But the foreign residents are required to have documents that show proof of their status such as the work permit of at least one year. The fees can be paid to the Rwanda development board offices or at the park headquarters.
